Work starts on new homes at Rosewood in Langley

Bellway has started work on a new development of homes near Maidstone, with the first properties due to be released for sale on Saturday 4 March.

The housebuilder is planning to deliver 170 houses and apartments at the 10-acre site within the new Rosewood neighbourhood off Sutton Road, Langley.

All the homes within the Bellway scheme will benefit from energy-efficient insulation, while 25 per cent will have solar panels fitted to further reduce their carbon footprint.

Alongside 119 two, three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale, Bellway will provide 51 one, two and three-bedroom affordable homes available for local people through shared ownership or low-cost rent.

Bellway’s detailed plans for their development at Rosewood were approved by Maidstone Borough Council, with planning permission granted in January last year.

Emma Hamlett, Sales Director for Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “We have worked closely with the local authority to ensure our new homes at Rosewood will meet the needs of the local community.

“We are providing a good mix of house types, from stylish two-bedroom starter homes to family-size detached houses, to cater for a wide range of buyers. The homes themselves will reflect the existing architecture found within this part of Kent, with selected properties faced in Kentish ragstone.

“A significant area of public open space in the centre of the development will provide wildlife benefits, as well as an attractive meeting place for residents, including a wildflower lawn, native shrub and tree planting and two rain gardens, all of which will help bring the development to life and forms part of our ecology strategy at Rosewood.

“We are also focused on reducing the effect of the development on the climate, with solar panels fitted flush to the roofs of 44 homes here. To encourage sustainable forms of transport, all homes will have access to cycle storage, while all houses with on-plot parking will have charging points for electric vehicles.”

Bellway’s Rosewood development lies on the western edge of the wider consortium project to deliver 800 homes on land south of Sutton Road.

Prices at Rosewood will start from £325,000 for The Slater, which is a one of a kind two-bedroom housetype at the development.
