Visitors see behind the scenes at new homes development in Cheddar

House-hunters had the chance to look behind the scenes of a construction site at the new Peregrine View development in Cheddar when Bellway held a ‘dusty boots’ event.

The housebuilder is delivering 60 new homes off Hellier’s Lane in the Somerset village and on Saturday 23 September the company arranged guided tours where people could see the properties under construction.

Visitors were supplied with hard hats, work boots and hi-vis jackets so that they could safely look around the site, guided by sales advisors Rachael Spencer and Jane Mackness. They saw examples of two, three and four-bedroom house types including the Cooper, the Turner, and the Scrivener house styles at different stages of the build.

Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “Looking behind the scenes at a construction site is not something that visitors can normally do, but we think it’s important to show people all that goes into making our developments great places to live.

“Rachael and Jane showed our visitors around, discussing everything from foundations to roofs, and answering lots of questions about the development and the housebuilding process.”

Peregrine View is named after the falcons of the Cheddar Gorge and lies on the western edge of Cheddar, which borders the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

And local wildlife will be supported as part of the development as bat bungalows will be installed and additional trees will be planted.

The scheme is half a mile from Cheddar Reservoir and the Strawberry Line cycleway, and a 20-minute walk from the village centre, while Cheddar Gorge and Caves is just a mile-and-a-half away.

Rachel said: “The location of Peregrine View is nothing short of spectacular, with such beautiful countryside within a short distance.

“And the development itself will make it easy for residents to enjoy the outdoors, as there will be a central village green with a children’s play area and picnic space as well as two pond areas.

“Yet as well as the lovely rural location, there are also good road links. Junctions 21 and 22 of the M5 are both within a 20-minute drive for travelling north or south, while Bristol can be reached in about 45 minutes by car.”

Peregrine View includes 42 properties for private sale and 18 affordable homes for local people to access via low-cost rent or shared ownership.

There are currently two, three, and four-bedroom houses available to buy at Peregrine View, with prices starting from £319,995. To find out more, visit https://www.bellway.co.uk/new-homes/south-west/peregrine-view or call the sales team on 01934 784760.
