The show goes on for showhome launch in Hednesford

Bad weather couldn’t stop Hednesford primary school children helping out with the launch of a new showhome at a neighbouring housing development.

Bellway had invited eight pupils and staff members from Poppyfield Primary Academy to the opening of the new three-bedroom Lymner showhome at its Green Oaks development off Pye Green Road earlier this month.

But when heavy rain on the day meant it wouldn’t have been sensible for the children to make the walk over to the development, Bellway decided to bring the showhome opening to the school instead, complete with giant scissors, ribbon, hi-vis vests and goodie bags.

Marie Richards, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “We were looking forward to hosting the children from Poppyfield Primary Academy at the showhome opening at Green Oaks and didn’t want them to miss out when the weather meant it wasn’t possible for them to get here – so we decided to take the launch event to the school instead.

“The children got to cut the ribbon and receive their goodie bags in the school hall we’d like to thank them for taking part.

“This is part of an ongoing relationship with the school, after our site team helped to create an allotment area, including raised planters and greenhouses, in the school grounds.”

Becky Scordis, Headteacher at Poppyfield Primary Academy, said: “The children were very excited when the staff from Bellway came over to our school.

“It was unfortunate that the rain made original plans difficult but we are so grateful that Bellway adjusted these so the children didn’t miss out. It is extremely important to myself and the school that we work closely with our community and offer the pupils a range of different experiences.

“The allotment area Bellway have created is beautiful and we hope to continue to engage with Bellway and strengthen our community links.”

Bellway is delivering 74 new homes at Green Oaks, off Pye Green Road, comprising 59 two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale and 15 affordable properties available for local people through shared ownership or rent.

Marie added: “The Lymner showhome forms part of the Artisan Collection, our flagship range of homes that combine traditional craftmanship with the latest modern construction methods.

“This three-bedroom house includes a large dual-aspect kitchen and dining room, which opens into the garden via a set of French doors, as well as a separate living room, and would make a great choice for families and those with children.

“We’ve had a really positive response to the showhome since the launch, with visitors able to get a real sense of the quality and space available in a typical new home at Green Oaks, and we look forward to welcoming more people to the development in the coming weeks and months.”

Green Oaks forms part of a wider 900-home development being delivered off Pye Green Road, which covers 160 acres and includes Poppyfield Primary Academy and Littleton Lodge care home.
