Site manager at Great Dunmow development wins health and safety award

The senior site manager at Ashberry Homes’ Beaumont Park development in Great Dunmow has been recognised for the high level of attention to health and safety on his construction site.

Stuart Jones, 42, from Cambridge, has won the regional health and safety award for the Central region from Ashberry Homes’ parent company Bellway.

His award was handed over by Bellway’s Group Health and Safety Director Claire Birkhead at Beaumont Park.

Stuart, who has worked in the construction industry for 20 years, said: “We’ve got a good site team here and with the team and the sub-contractors being on board, it makes all the difference. It’s about maintaining a good, clean and tidy site at all times.

“Day to day, everyone is conscientious about their surroundings and making sure that they don’t walk past things that could present a problem but instead do something about it.

“You’ve got to manage the process because it evolves constantly. We have a really good team ethic here and people have got your back. They won’t just walk past a potential problem.”

The Bellway Health and Safety Awards were launched last year to recognise the high level of good practice among its staff in the area of health and safety.

This year 44 sites were shortlisted and four regional winners were selected.

Claire said: “All our sites across the business continue to maintain a high standard of health and safety practices which made this year’s competition exceptionally tough.

“It was an honour to present this award to the team at Beaumont Park and I would like to extend my congratulations to the other regional winners and the teams at all our sites for their hard work in achieving these high standards.”

“Running these awards is very important to us at Bellway as it is vital to shine a light on the efforts that keep everyone safe on our sites. The site teams deserve recognition of their health and safety performance.”

Beaumont Park is a 198-home development in Great Dunmow which is part of a joint scheme between Ashberry Homes and Bellway to build 464 properties.

The Bellway and Ashberry Homes developments are part of a wider project to create a 790-home neighbourhood off Stortford Road.

There are currently three and four-bedroom homes for sale at Beaumont Park with prices starting at £429,995. To find out more, visit https://www.ashberryhomes.co.uk/new-homes/eastern-counties/beaumont-park or call the sales team on 01371 290047.
