Residents to have their say on plans for 160 homes in Nuneaton

Plans for a new development of 160 homes to help address the housing shortage in Nuneaton have been revealed by Bellway Strategic Land at the start of a public consultation.

People living in the town are being invited to have their say on the proposals for the 16-acre site to the east of Plough Hill Road.

The development would include 40 affordable homes, along with green spaces and highway improvements. A new traffic calming scheme is proposed to reduce speeds around Galley Common Infant School and there would be enhanced routes for walking and cycling

Green space would cover 35 per cent of the site, with a community open space, children’s play area, new trees and wildlife habitats.

Chris O’Hanlon, Planning Manager for Bellway Strategic Land, said: “This site is in an ideal location to help deliver on Nuneaton’s housing targets. It is bordered by recent residential developments and has good access to schools, public transport and other facilities.

“Bellway has a strong track record building quality homes in Nuneaton and it remains a key location for growth.

“We are committed to designing a development which will cater for a broad range of people, which is why it is especially important that we capture as many views as possible.”

Leaflets are being sent to nearby residents to inform them of the proposals and a consultation website is now live. This gives more details around access routes, ecological features and landscaping.

Feedback can be given through the website until Friday 4 October, after which time Bellway Strategic Land will look to prepare a planning application.
