Prestigious industry awards won by Bellway site managers in the West Midlands

The high quality of the work delivered by four site managers from Bellway’s West Midlands division has been recognised in a prestigious national competition.

The four have secured Quality Awards in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job Awards.

This places them among the industry’s elite as only 449 winners were chosen from a pool of 8,000 – and 10 per cent of the winners work for Bellway.

The winners were Marc Franks from Bellway’s Sheasby Park in Fradley, Staffordshire, Jamie Smith from Hatton Court in Hatton, Derbyshire, and Chris Bennett at Whitford Heights in Bromsgrove, as well as Leigh Larkins at Ashberry Homes’ Yew Tree Meadows development in Nuneaton. Ashberry Homes is part of the Bellway Group.

The winning site managers are now automatically entered into the next stage of the competition – the NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be awarded later in the year.

Leigh, 50, from Lichfield, said: “It feels very good to have won this prestigious award again as this is my third Pride in the Job win. I am happy to have been recognised for my hard work. I have achieved the Seal of Excellence award once before and it would be great to win it again. I always strive to build quality houses and have happy customers.”

Marc, 37, from Sutton Coldfield, said: “Everyone on site has worked extremely hard over the last year and winning this award for a second time is brilliant as it shows this hard work has paid off. I really like working for Bellway as the company supports me and gives me freedom when doing my job which allows me to work better.”

Every site registered with the NHBC is judged against exacting criteria which cover a wide range of aspects of the site manager’s work including attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety.

Nick Edmond, Construction Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are rightly held in high regard nationally as everyone in the industry knows just how hard it is to win this accolade.

“The judging is incredibly rigorous, which means that winning the award is testament to the quality of the homes being built at these developments.

“I would like to congratulate Leigh, Marc, Jamie, Chris and every member of their fabulous site teams for their achievement and wish them all the best for the next stage of the competition in the autumn.”
