Prestigious industry award won by Bellway site manager

The high quality of the work delivered by the site manager at Bellway’s Sheasby Park development in Fradley has been recognised with a prestigious national award.

Marc Franks, 37, from Sutton Coldfield, won a Quality Award this year in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job competition and is one of just 449 site managers from across the UK to receive the accolade. Ten per cent of the winners were Bellway site managers.

Marc was selected from a pool of more than 8,000 site managers whose sites have been inspected by the NHBC over the past year, placing them among an elite group within the industry.

Marc, who also won a Quality Award in 2022 for his work at Sheasby Park, said: “Everyone on site has worked extremely hard over the last year and winning this award for a second time is brilliant as it shows this hard work has paid off.”

Bellway is building 624 new homes at Sheasby Park on the former RAF Lichfield site. Work started there in 2016, with work now taking place on the third phase of the development.

The NHBC runs the Pride in the Job awards annually and every site registered with them is automatically entered into the competition. Each site manager is judged on a wide range of aspects of their work including attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety.

As a Quality Award winner, Marc is automatically entered into the next stage of the competition – the NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be awarded later in the year.

Marc began his career as an apprentice bricklayer at the age of 17 and progressed to a trainee assistant site manager position, followed by an assistant site manager role before being promoted to site manager.

He said: “I really like working for Bellway as the company supports me and gives me freedom when doing my job which allows me to work better.

“My goal is to retain the Pride in the Job Award next year. I would like 2025 to be as successful as 2022 and 2024.”

Nick Edmond, Construction Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are rightly held in high regard nationally as everyone in the industry knows just how hard it is to win this accolade.

“The judging is incredibly rigorous, which means that winning the award is testament to the quality of the homes being built at Sheasby Park.

“I would like to congratulate Marc and every member of the fabulous site team for their achievement and wish them all the best for the next stage of the competition in the autumn.”

Bellway is building a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes for sale at Sheasby Park.
