New energy-efficient homes released for sale in Bacton

Bellway has now released the first of 85 sustainable new homes for sale at its Ivy Hill development in the Suffolk village of Bacton.

A new sales office has been opened at the site, off Birch Avenue, in October, when the first homes were put on sale and prospective purchasers were able to visit for the first time.

Ivy Hill is set to be an exemplar site for low-carbon technology – with each of the homes heated by air source heat pumps, rather than conventional gas boilers – as part of Bellway’s Future Homes scheme.

Rhiannon Jones, Head of Sales for Bellway Eastern Counties, said: “This is a very important housing project for Bacton as it will increase the housing capacity of the area, as well as leading the way in using sustainable methods for heating.

“All 85 of the homes at this site, including the 30 affordable units we are delivering here, will be fitted with eco-friendly and cost-effective air source heat pumps for heating space and hot water.

“As the first of our developments to exclusively offer this future-proofed technology, it will chart the course for our upcoming projects over the next decade and beyond.

“We are therefore anticipating a great deal of interest in these pioneering new homes. Our colleagues at Ivy Hill are currently working busily following the launch and we would welcome all those who are looking for a new home in the area to register their interest and to come and visit us on site.”

Ivy Hill occupies a 12-acre site which will include public open space, a new play area for children and the provision of land for a new community building.

The 55 homes being built for private sale will comprise a broad range of two, three, and four-bedroom houses as well as two-bedroom bungalows, while there will also be 30 affordable homes available for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Rhiannon said: “The location of Ivy Hill is also set to be a draw for home-hunters as the new homes enjoy a village setting with countryside on the doorstep, while it’s just six miles to Stowmarket, and just five miles to the A16 for those travelling to Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich.”
