New development opens at former Redlands Airfield site near Swindon

Bellway South West welcomed house-hunters to Redlands Grove near Swindon for the first time in June.

The housebuilder opened a sales complex and two four-bedroom showhomes at the development to the east of the town off Wanborough Road.

Bellway is building 81 homes in the first phase of the development, part of a wider new neighbourhood of up to 370 new homes on the former Redlands Airfield.

Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “With work here progressing well, we have now been able to open our sales complex at Redlands Grove so that we can welcome visitors for the first time to the site.

“We also have two fabulous new showhomes to allow house-hunters to see inside a fully furnished and decorated property. Both are superb examples of a four-bedroom detached family home and showcase the quality and specification people can expect in a new-build Bellway home.

“The Scrivener, for example, features a kitchen/dining/family room which spans the width of the house and has French doors to the back garden, with a living room to the front. The lay-out of the Bowyer, meanwhile, incorporates two large rooms downstairs either side of a central entrance hallway. Both properties have utility rooms and an en suite to the main bedroom.”

Bellway’s first phase at Redlands Grove includes 65 two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale and 16 affordable properties available for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

The housebuilder has submitted detailed plans for a second phase of 97 homes, as part of the wider project. This application is pending consideration by Swindon Borough Council.

Christel said: “Buyers are being attracted to Redlands Grove in large part by its fantastic rural location in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. The setting offers a quiet life yet is still only five miles from the shops, bars and restaurants of Swindon town centre.

“Families will appreciate the selection of well-regarded schools in the area and commuters are well served by excellent transport links. The development is close to junction 15 of the M4, meaning drivers can be in Bristol or Reading in about 45 minutes, while Swindon’s railway station offers services to Bristol, Reading and London Paddington.”

The wider scheme, which Redlands Grove is part of, is being built in conjunction with Vistry Group. The planning agreement for the site will see Bellway and Vistry invest more £5.3 million to help improve local infrastructure.

More than £3 million will be contributed towards education services, while sports facilities will receive more than £820,000, healthcare will get more than £200,000 and bus services £277,500.

There’s currently a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Redlands Grove, with prices starting at £324,995.
