New Bellway housing development in Cheddar opens its doors

Home-hunters can now buy a property at a new housing development which is taking shape in Cheddar.

Bellway South West is building 60 new homes at Peregrine View, a 5.6-acre site off Hellier’s Lane.

The developer officially launched the site to the public on Saturday 15 April with the opening of a sales office and showhome.

Peregrine View will feature 42 properties for private sale and 18 affordable homes for local people through low-cost rent and shared ownership.

The development was named after a group of local residents - the peregrine falcons, which nest on the cliffs of the Cheddar Gorge valley nearby.

Tim Lund, Sales Director for Bellway South West, said: “Peregrine View has generated a huge amount of interest from potential buyers, particularly those local to the area, and we’re pleased that we can now welcome visitors to the site.

“The location is undoubtedly one of the big factors in the development’s appeal. Cheddar’s position on the edge of The Mendips Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and its good road connections to the M5 and Bristol make it a particularly attractive place to live.

“Peregrine View is in a prime position as it is within half a mile of both Cheddar Reservoir and the Strawberry Line cycleway, and just a 20-minute walk from the village centre and the famous Cheddar Gorge – home to the peregrine falcons from which the development takes its name.

“The homes for sale range from two-bedroom terraced houses to four-bedroom detached properties, ensuring that first-time buyers and downsizers as well as families are catered for. This was reflected by the excellent turnout during the launch weekend and we expect that this level of demand will be sustained as more homes are released onto the market.”

Peregrine View will feature a central village green, incorporating a children’s play area and a picnic space, as well as two pond areas at the southern edge of the site. Bat bungalows will be installed to help local wildlife and new trees will be planted throughout the site.

All homes at the development are from Bellway’s Artisan Collection, a flagship range of contemporary house designs carefully developed by an experienced team of architects and technicians using decades of customer feedback.

There’s currently a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve, with prices starting at £345,500.
