Moving into a Bellway home is a piece of cake for Anlaby buyers

When Jean Smith and husband Steve, moved from Warwick to Bellway Homes’ Tranby Park development in Anlaby, they decided that a carbon copy of their new home made from sponge would be the icing on the cake for their big move.

The couple, who moved north to bring them closer to their extended family, set local cake maker, Nicola from Cake Topper Creations the challenge of creating an edible version of their new Bellway home.

“Nicola designed the cake from a photo in a brochure and it was fantastic. The whole family, especially the grandkids enjoyed a few days of coming to grandma’s house to eat her house cake!” said Jean.

“Steve, myself, and Ollie the dog made the move so we could be a bigger part of the growing up process of my grandchildren and moments like this make it all worthwhile.”

When the couple decided to move to Anlaby, they were nervous about saying goodbye to a lot of memories and friends in Warwick, but thankfully Jean has kept in touch despite missing seeing them face-to-face.

“It’s always going to be hard to move any distance away when you’ve spent so long around the same friends and neighbours. Luckily, Tranby Park is really friendly. I regularly go for walks with Ollie, and on occasion meet-up with our neighbour Jane.”

Paula Murdoch, Bellway Yorkshire’s sales manager, said: “Anlaby is a very community orientated village, and it fits perfectly with the Bellway ethos, as our aim isn’t just to build homes but also to create communities. It’s great to see Jean and Steve making new friends already.”

Being built in a peaceful, wooded setting off Beverley Road, Tranby Park is within easy walking distance of Anlaby’s historic village centre. It features a host of excellent local amenities and is only a short drive away from Hull city centre and all it has to offer. Prices on the homes currently available range from £199,995 for a two-bedroom semi-detached Milton to £519,995 for a five-bed detached Kettlewell.

Bellway is currently very active in the East Riding, with developments in Brough, Driffield, Howden, Kirk Ella, Pocklington and South Cave, and a new development in Beverley due to open in early 2023.

"After 17 years of working for the NHS at a GP surgery, it only took me a matter of weeks to realise looking after my grandchildren, Lydia (11) and Harry (2) was going to be busier than a full-time job!” added Jean.
