Major Bellway development in Rugby drawing to a close

Construction at a flagship Bellway development in Rugby is drawing to a close, with just 14 homes left to be sold.

Bellway South Midlands is building 191 new homes at Houlton Meadows, off Crick Road, within the new community of Houlton.

The development features 171 new homes for private sale and 20 affordable properties for local people.

Construction work started on the site in 2018 and is due to be completed in the summer.

Elaine Brown, Sales Director for Bellway South Midlands, said: “This major housing development has delivered much-needed new homes in Rugby, where there has been strong demand. We began construction on this site in 2018 so we have been building here for four years and now we can see the project coming into the final stages.

“Houlton Meadows has proved to be a very popular development and it is great to be able to witness a vibrant new community taking shape. Many buyers have been attracted by the proximity of the motorway network with the M1, M40 and M6 all within easy reach and Birmingham and Leicester both less than an hour from home.

“Parents have been drawn here by the good selection of well-regarded schools in the area, which includes the convenience of having a new primary school, St Gabriel’s CofE Academy, very close by. The areas of green open space, nature reserve and woodland at Houlton are proving attractive to purchasers, particularly families.”

Among the residents already enjoying life at Houlton Meadows are Patrick Turner, 55, and his 17-year-old son who moved into a four-bedroom home and are loving entertaining family and friends.

Patrick, a claims operation manager, said: “The spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and family area and separate living room confirmed to me and my son that we had found our new home.

“It’s so much better hosting guests at our new house compared to our old house. In our previous home, our rooms were divided and there was less space. Now we can all socialise together.

“I have had friends and family visit the house and they have all loved the layout of the kitchen, living room and family area. To have the open-plan space to cater for family gatherings is ideal.”

Fellow residents and first-time buyers, Alice Hammond and Harry King, both 23, feel the site location and nearby amenities are ideal.

Alice said: “I also like the idea of the whole development being built from scratch. There are purpose-built schools, shops and roads which link on to existing routes which makes getting around so much easier.

“The location of the development is perfect for commuting, and there are major roads and motorways all within a couple of miles of the development, which is especially useful for Harry, who can commute to Northampton via the M1.

“Aside from commuting for work, the road connections allow us to get out to nearby spots such as Daventry Country Park incredibly quickly, where we like to unwind on weekends and go for walks.”

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Bellway is investing in local services and infrastructure, including education and public open space.

Elaine said: “These final properties really do represent the last chance for buyers to secure a fantastic new home on a much sought-after development, which is in a peaceful rural location but is just three miles from the shops, bars and restaurants of Rugby.”

There’s a range of three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Houlton Meadows, with prices starting at £285,000.
