Housebuilder sponsors cat cabin at animal rescue centre in Bristol
The work of a Bristol animal rescue organisation is being sponsored by city-based housebuilder Bellway South West.
The developer, which has its regional head office in Almondsbury and is building new homes at Berwick Green in Cribbs Causeway, has donated £500 to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre.
The money will sponsor a cat cabin for a year, to provide much-needed accommodation for cats who are cared for at the charity’s rehoming centre and clinic in Albert Road.
Gina Jones, the centre’s Marketing and Communications Manager, said: “Although the centre is affiliated with the RSPCA, we do not receive automatic funding from it, so instead we rely heavily on donations and sponsors from the local community to fund the vital work we do with animals.
“For this reason, we are thrilled to have the support of Bellway. This donation is so kind and will make such a difference to the organisation.”
Bristol Animal Rescue Centre has been running since 1887 and prides itself on healing and homing thousands of animals each year.
The centre works with stray and injured animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, and ferrets as well as injured wildlife that the public brings in. Staff also run two outreach clinics once a week for low-income individuals who cannot afford veterinary care for their pets. The services include free vaccinations and worming treatments.
More than 120 volunteers regularly help out at the centre with animal care, cleaning kennels and helping with events.
