House-hunters tour homes under construction in Cheadle

House-hunters donned hard hats and hi-vis jackets to get a behind-the-scenes look at a working construction site in Cheadle.

Bellway West Midlands gave visitors to its Cecilly Mills development a tour of homes at different stages of construction at a ‘dusty boots’ event.

Prospective purchasers were able to see inside the three-bedroom Turner and Quilter house styles at the development, which is on the former JCB factory site, off Oakamoor Road.

Bellway is building 120 new homes at the development. The site will consist of 107 new homes for private sale and 13 affordable properties available for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Marie Richards, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “It was good to see people turn up to take advantage of this rare chance to explore a working construction site.

“We are building a selection of two, three and four-bedroom houses for the private market at this lovely site, which is a short walk from Cheadle town centre and right next door to Cecilly Brook Nature Reserve. This was a chance for us to showcase the excellent work our construction team is doing here and to allow visitors to experience for themselves the layout of the site and how it fits in with the local neighbourhood.

“Bellway has initiated a national programme to welcome more customers onto our developments, not only inviting them to view finished showhomes and on-site sales offices but also to see properties still under construction, so they can better understand how they are built and the energy-efficient measures they include.

“As a housebuilder, we aim to put our customers’ experience at the heart of everything that we do and these events are further evidence of this commitment.”

The development has been named after the Cecilly Mills JCB factory that previously occupied the land. The factory closed in 2016 and was demolished in 2017. Bellway West Midlands began construction on the site in 2021.

Marie said: “All the properties at Cecilly Mills are from Bellway’s flagship Artisan Collection, which is a range of homes built employing a combination of modern construction techniques and traditional craftsmanship. This event gave potential buyers the opportunity to see exactly how these top-quality homes are built and to ask questions of sales advisor Barbara Kelly and site manager Lee Aston.

“We want to give potential purchasers as much information as possible so they can make a fully informed decision when it comes to buying a home with Bellway at this much sought-after development.”

There is currently a selection of two, three and four-bedroom new homes available to reserve at Cecilly Mills, with prices starting at £199,995.
