Homebuilder supports veterans in Hartlepool

Bellway Durham has provided a financial boost to the Hartlepool branch of the Royal British Legion to help veterans and their families in the town.

The homebuilder has contributed £300 to the funds of the local branch to support its work in assisting current and former armed forces personnel living in the area.

The donation was made as part of Bellway’s work with local charities and community groups in Hartlepool where the developer is building 370 new homes off Hart Road.

Oliver Wray, Sales Manager at Bellway Durham, said: “It is an honour to work with the Royal British Legion’s branch in Hartlepool because they take care of those who pledged their lives to protect our nation.

“This donation will help members of the local branch in reaching out to support the families of veterans who live here as well as those currently serving in the armed forces.

“The Royal British Legion continues to do extremely important work more than 100 years after it was formed. The support provided by the local branch here in Hartlepool is a lifeline for many military veterans and it is inspiring to see the difference it is making to people’s lives.”

Sian Cameron, the Chairman of Hartlepool’s Royal British Legion, said: “As Chair of the Hartlepool Branch of the Royal British Legion, I would like to offer my sincere gratitude for the donation that we recently received from Bellway Homes.

“All donations to the Branch are used to provide welfare support to veterans and their families. They are particularly important to the Hartlepool Branch due to the social demographic of the area, and we welcome any help and support.

“Whether it’s fundraising, championing Remembrance or just helping others, our members make sure that people can access the services and support that the Royal British Legion provides.”

Members of the Hartlepool branch meet at 7pm on the third Monday of each month at the Ye Olde Durhams Social Club on St Aidan’s Street.

Bellway’s Hartwell Park development off Hart Road will deliver 303 homes for private sale and 67 affordable homes which will be made available to local people through shared ownership or low-cost renting.
