First residents set to move in at new development in Chichester

The first residents are set to move into their new homes at a Bellway South London development in Chichester, at the end of this month.

The housebuilder is delivering 88 new homes at Indigo Park, which is situated on the former Portfield Quarry and UMA House site on the eastern edge of the city.

The development, off Shopwhyke Road, will comprise 77 houses and apartments for private sale and 11 affordable homes, which will be made available to local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Bellway South London has so far built 12 and sold 21 of the private homes at Indigo Park.

Daniel Williamson, Sales Director for Bellway South London, said: “It is a real milestone for us here at Indigo Park to be able to welcome the first residents into their new homes at the end of the month. We will be handing the keys over to five sets of buyers, who will signal the start of this place’s transformation from a construction site to a vibrant new community.

“We’ve sold 10 apartments so far, which have attracted first-time buyers and people downsizing after retirement and looking for a smaller and more manageable home.

“Meanwhile, the three-bedroom houses we have sold have been snapped up by families who are upsizing because they need more room, while the four-bedroom houses have appealed to both families and those working remotely who need the extra space to create a home office.”

Indigo Park is part of a larger area which has been allocated for new housing in the Chichester Local Plan.

Bellway South London began construction work on the site in April 2022 and is due to finish building work on the site in April 2024.

Daniel said: “We have had a real mix of buyers at the development, with some being local and others coming from Surrey and even as far afield as Wales. They been drawn here by the affordability of the houses and by the chance to live in a delightful setting on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Chichester.

“The city is famous for the gorgeous cathedral and its Roman heritage, which includes Roman baths, amphitheatre and city wall. Buyers appreciate this history and also the fact that it is a safe and genteel place, which is ideal to bring up children or live a quiet life.

“The location of the development is proving a big draw too with commuters impressed by the proximity of the A27, while the seaside and the glorious South Downs are both about 20 minutes away.”

There is currently a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments available to reserve at Indigo Park, with prices starting at £223,000. There is also choice of three and four-bedroom houses for sale, priced from £375,500.
