Dad’s special thank you to amazing neonatal intensive care unit

The amazing care given to premature twins Lyla and Cameron Allsop has led to a £500 donation from their dad’s employer.

The babies arrived nine weeks early in December last year, weighing just 3.0lb and 3.2lb, and spent seven weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey. They are now both doing well.

Dad, Greg Allsop, who is the Sales Director for Bellway’s North London division based in Ruislip, visited the unit to present a cheque from the housebuilder to the hospital’s Little Roo Neonatal Fund.

He said: “The team at St Peter’s NICU were absolutely amazing and we will be forever in their debt for the care they provided when our twins Lyla and Cameron arrived early.

“Bellway regularly makes financial donations to organisations and charities where we build homes, as part of our commitment to support local communities, but this donation was particularly special for me. It was fantastic to be able to return to the unit to present this cheque to the incredible staff there and say thank you in person.

“I hope the donation will help the unit continue to provide the exceptional level of life-saving care and support for families like ours.”

The Little Roo Neonatal Fund was set up 19 years ago by doctors and parents to support the neonatal intensive care unit at St Peter’s Hospital.

Sid Hurry, Little Roo Neonatal Fund Manager, said: “The Little Roo Neonatal Fund aims to raise money for additional equipment and training so the team can continue to provide the highest standards of intensive care for sick babies, both premature and full term.

“We are so honoured by the support we have received. It can be such a difficult time for the families who require our service but receiving support and gratitude in return is always touching. Bellway’s donation was really special and such a testament to the staff and unit at St Peter’s Hospital.”
