Couple move to new home in Witchford to be closer to family

A couple have relocated to Bellway’s The Vickers development in Witchford to be closer to their family in Ely.

David Middleton, 66, and his wife Erika, 67, moved to a new four-bedroom Milliner detached house at the development, off Manor Road, in January this year.

Having lived in an older property in Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, the couple started looking for another house so that they could be closer to their daughter Tanya, 36, who lives in Ely.

David said: “The location of this Bellway development was quite convenient because we have family in Ely, so we decided to go down to the site and have a look in July 2022. The showhome at The Vickers impressed us a lot. Not only was it bright and airy, but it was also very suitable to the lifestyle we have.

“We really liked the layout of the house type that we have bought. It is really nice to have such a roomy hallway and we also appreciate the comfort of having a large family room and two patio doors which open out to a sizeable garden.

“We can have our family over whenever we want because we have plenty of space to accommodate everyone and they are all fond of the house too.”

The couple have enjoyed the benefits of buying a new home, compared to an older property as they’d done previously.

David said: “Since our old property in Sutton-in-Ashfield had been built some 20 years before we moved in, we were both excited to buy a new-build this time.

“The advantage in buying a new build was that it gave us a blank slate and allowed us the freedom to choose the carpeting, the flooring, the tiles, and the kitchen we liked.”

They were also impressed by the customer service they received from Bellway’s staff.

David said: “The sales team at the development were very helpful throughout the process of the purchase. They went out of their way to help us when the completion of our plot had to be postponed from November 2022 to January 2023 because of a shortage of materials.

“We also got a lot of customer support from the head of sales, Rhiannon Jones, and the site manager, Jessica Garton, and her team at The Vickers.

“Everybody at the sales office on site has also been incredibly polite and they are all good ambassadors for Bellway because they are always honest and responsive.

“It’s the people who have made such a huge difference in our experience with Bellway and made our experience of moving feel so positive despite the challenges we had. So, I would definitely recommend Bellway to anybody who is looking for a new house.”

David, who worked in the banking sector for 20 years and is now semi-retired, has found the location of his new home at The Vickers to be particularly convenient for the travelling he does as part of his work now as a minister of religion for the New Apostolic Church.

He said: “The best thing about the location of this development is that it is very close to the A142 and the A10 which makes it really easy to drive to the places I have to travel to.

“It’s also less than 10 minutes from Ely where there are many more attractions than we had in Sutton to the extent that we are genuinely spoilt for choice.

“We really like living close to special places like the Cathedral and the Marina as well as the huge variety of restaurants we have in Ely.”

The Vickers is a well-established development with just four homes left to purchase at prices starting from £345,000.
