Community enjoys coronation celebration at Copthorne Keep in Shrewsbury

An afternoon of coronation celebrations took place at the new Copthorne Keep development in Shrewsbury on Bank Holiday Monday.

Residents at the Bellway development off Copthorne Road, which is being built on the former Copthorne Barracks site, took part in fun activities and browsed the stalls at the event to mark the royal weekend.

Organised by the Copthorne Keep residents’ group, the day included children’s races, a ‘beat the goalie’ competition, sack races and guess the teddy bear’s name. Homebuilder Bellway supported the celebrations by giving £100 in Sainsbury’s vouchers to the residents so that they could buy prizes for the children’s events.

Marie Richards, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “There is a wonderful community here at Copthorne Keep and that is shown by the enthusiasm the new residents have shown for getting together and marking national occasions. That is why we were so pleased to contribute towards the prizes.

“Everyone had a great time on Bank Holiday Monday marking the Coronation of King Charles and there was plenty of fun and laughter on the day.

“The children, especially, had a fantastic time and enjoyed dressing up for the parade and taking part in the competitions. I’m sure that in years to come they will have fond memories of the coronation celebrations.”

The day also included a raffle and an array of stalls selling crafts, cakes, and plants.

The community at Copthorne Keep has already built up a tradition of marking royal events, having enjoyed a Jubilee picnic last summer to mark the Queen’s 70-year reign, which was also supported with a Bellway donation.
