Children in Yate take part in treasure hunt supported by Bellway

Children taking part in the annual Easter Egg Extravaganza at Kingsgate Park in Yate enjoyed chocolate treats provided with help from Bellway South West.

The housebuilder, which is building new homes at Ladden Garden Village, off Clayhill Drive in the town, donated £200 to Yate Town Council to pay for 100 chocolate eggs for the event on Easter Bank Holiday Monday.

The event – which included a bonnet parade and treasure hunt, with chocolate eggs given to children taking part – was organised by the Friends of Kingsgate Park in conjunction with Yate Town Council.

Bellway’s donation came about after the council’s service support assistant Rachel Evans got in touch to ask for help last month, because organisers were 100 Easter eggs short of their target.

Lucy Bennett, Service Support Officer at Yate Town Council, said: “We have been hosting the annual Easter Egg Extravaganza for over 15 years. Over 550 Easter eggs were distributed to those who completed the hunt around the park. We were amazed with the turnout and couldn’t have organised this event without the help of donations.

“Massive thanks to Bellway for helping us to get across the finish line and donating towards 100 additional Easter eggs for the event. We’re very grateful for every donation large or small as it really does make a difference and helps us to make sure that everyone gets an Easter egg.

“The council aims to host a variety of community events throughout the year to provide entertainment and fun whilst bringing locals together. Yate Town Council and Friends of Kingsgate Park are also organising a community music festival called Yate Rocks! which will take place in June this year.”

Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “In addition to providing new housing across the South West, including at our Ladden Garden Village development in Yate, we want to support local organisations and initiatives to ensure that we have a positive impact on local communities.

“It is pleasing to know that our donation helped such a popular community event by funding an additional 100 chocolate eggs for the children and we look forward to developing our relationship with Yate Town Council as we continue to build new high-quality homes in the area.”
