Building work finishes at new development in Edenbridge

Bellway Kent has provided £1.5 million for the community in Edenbridge as part of the successful delivery of 319 new homes in the town.

The housebuilder has finished building the new homes at Oakley Park and created 6.4-acres of public open space as part of the planning agreement that includes a fully equipped play area, two further designated play areas, allotments, an informal ‘kickabout’ space, eco habitats and ponds.

Bellway has also paid £1.5 million in Community Infrastructure Levy, which will fund improvements to local infrastructure and facilities.

Detailed plans were approved for the new homes at Oakley Park in 2017, with the first homes being released for sale in 2018. All the new homes have now been sold.

Mark Harrop, Sales Director for Bellway Kent, said: “Our construction team has created a fabulous collection of high-quality new homes at Oakley Park. The majority of residents have moved into their homes and it is great to see a vibrant new community take shape on the edge of Edenbridge after six years of work here.

“This development has provided more than 300 much-needed new homes to the area, with more than third of them being affordable properties allowing local people to secure a new home close to family and friends. The range of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses as well as one and two-bedroom apartments was designed to meet the specific needs of the local housing market.

“Our investment through the Community Infrastructure Levy will help update and improve facilities in the area.

“We have also created a family-friendly neighbourhood which is centred around three large oak trees and features three play areas and an informal ‘kickabout’ area to encourage an outdoor lifestyle, and allotments to allow residents to grow their own food. Meanwhile, the eco-habitats and ponds on site will support biodiversity – making this a wonderful place to live for both people and wildlife.”
