Bramford school gets new entrance gates thanks to Bellway
Brand-new entrance gates have been installed at Bramford C of E Primary School after a local housebuilder answered its call for help.
Bellway Essex, which is building new homes at its Lockwood Place development in the village, was approached by the school asking if they could assist in replacing the old gates which had fallen into disrepair.
The housebuilder commissioned Pharoah Fencing, one of its sub-contractors, to install a new set of wooden double gates leading to the staff and visitors’ car park – improving access for pupils arriving at the school.
Jo Green, a member of the admin team at the school, said: “The problem we had was that the old double gates were not fit for purpose and posts connecting it to the side gate next to it, where some children came into the school, were rotting.
“This meant we were not able to open the side gate and had to use the car park entrance gates to allow the children to come into school, which was not ideal as we had to stop vehicles using the space during that time. We realised that the gates, and posts, needed replacing but our budget is always stretched.
“We were aware that Bellway is building new homes at its Lockwood Place development as it is a short walk from the school and some of children live there. We got in touch with the company to see if they could help us with the gates.
“Much to our delight, the company said that it would get the old gates and posts replaced with a new set. We are extremely grateful to Bellway for its generous gesture and for Pharoah Fencing for doing such a great job. The money we would have to have used to fix the gates can be spent on items such as E-books, library books and PE equipment.”
Laura Trigg, Sales Manager at Bellway Essex, said: “When the school approached us explaining that they needed to replace the double gates and posts we were more than happy to help out. We called in Pharoah Fencing, one of our sub-contractors who we work with, and asked them to go along and sort the job out. They did the work and we split the cost of the project.
“When we build new homes, we believe it is really important to engage with the community and foster meaningful connections with local organisations. We hope that through this collaboration we can form an ongoing relationship with Bramford C of E Primary School.”
