Bellway supports local festival in Herne Bay through £500 donation
Bellway Kent has sponsored a month-long festival which will take place this summer in Herne Bay.
The housebuilder has donated £500 to become a gold sponsor of the Herne Bay Festival, which runs from 29 July to 26 August.
The theme of the festival this year is ‘Community in Mind’ which focuses on the wider community, mental health, the environment and more.
The festival will host a variety of events throughout the month, including music festivals, food, fireworks and carnivals.
Bellway is building 315 homes in the town at its Oxenden Park development off Greenhill Road.
Mark Harrop, Sales Director for Bellway Kent, said: “The Herne Bay Festival is a major event for the town and one we are proud to support.
“The theme of community fits well with our commitments as a responsible housebuilder. Customers and communities are a key pillar of our Better with Bellway sustainability strategy and this sponsorship is an extension of that.
“We support the communities where we build in many ways and are investing £3.5 million in infrastructure and services in Herne Bay. Working with the Herne Bay Festival enables us to contribute to an important cultural event for the town which we know will be a highlight of the summer.”
Garry Northwood, Trustee of the Herne Bay Festival Charity, said: “The Herne Bay Festival is run entirely by volunteers. We receive no funding from the council and are therefore totally dependent on our wonderful sponsors like Bellway for their generosity in helping to fund the festival.
“Without organisations like Bellway supporting us, we would simply not be able to provide four weeks of free top-quality entertainment and enjoyment for the people of Herne Bay.”
The festival required funding for 18 of the events that will be taking place throughout the course of the month.
