Work has started on the second phase of a new development in Sherfield on Loddon, where Bellway is delivering more than 200 new homes.

Bellway Wessex began groundworks in March 2024 on the second phase of 57 new homes at Longfield Place, off Reading Road. Detailed plans for the 6.8-acre site, which lies to the east of phase one, were approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in June 2023.

The housebuilder is already delivering 150 properties on an 18-acre site which forms the first phase of the development.

Jon Rance, Sales Manager for Bellway Wessex, said: “The site team has now begun work on phase two at Longfield Place, after our detailed plans were given the go-ahead by the local authority.

“The first residents moved onto phase one of the development in September 2022 and since then we have handed the keys over for another 58 new homes. It is lovely to watch as a new neighbourhood begins to form, and more and more people get to know each other and to call this place home.

“The second phase will see us deliver a further choice of houses for sale to help meet the requirements of the local housing market. We very much see this new phase as a natural continuation of the selection of the homes being provided in the first phase.”

Construction began on phase one, which features 90 private properties and 60 affordable homes, in September 2021 and has now been completed.

Phase two will consist of 34 private homes and 23 affordable properties available for local people through low-cost rent and shared ownership.

Jon said: “Longfield Place is sought-after development with its open spaces and range of good schools in the area proving attractive to parents. Commuters are well-served by the excellent local road links which allows drivers to be in Basingstoke in 10 minutes and Reading in 25 minutes, with the nearby M3 providing a route into London.

“Construction is moving on apace and we aim to be in a position to release the first new homes on phase two for sale this summer with the first residents due to move in by January 2025.”

There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom new homes available to reserve at Longfield Place, with prices starting at £449,995 and £599,995 respectively.
