Bellway is celebrating after three of its site managers were named the best in their region in a prestigious national housebuilding awards competition.

Cymon Robinson, James Kilby and Adam Hawkes have each claimed the coveted Large Housebuilder Regional Award for their respective regions in this year’s National House Building Council’s Pride in the Job Awards.

Senior site manager Cymon – who oversees construction for Bellway’s Northern Home Counties division at Weavers Fields in Desborough, Northamptonshire – was presented with his award at the NHBC’s Central region ceremony in Milton Keynes, on Friday 8 November.

Last month, project manager Adam Hawkes, who is charge of the building programme at Sapphire Fields at Great Dunmow for Bellway’s Essex division, claimed the top award in the South East region, while James Kilby, Bellway East Midlands’ project manager at Holbrook Park in Chellaston, Derbyshire, clinched the title in the East region in September.

James Griffin, Bellway Group Construction Director, said: “The trio of awards claimed by Cymon, James and Adam represent an exceptional result for Bellway and are just reward for their hard work and dedication, as well as testament to the company’s ongoing pursuit of excellence.

“These NHBC awards come after an extremely rigorous judging process which includes thousands of registered construction sites throughout the country.  This success comes as a product of our daily working environment whereby we maintain the highest standards throughout every aspect of our business.

“Everyone at the company is very proud of the inspirational efforts of Cymon, Adam and James and we wish them all the best as they now go on to compete in the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards, which will be announced early next year.”

The NHBC runs the Pride in the Job Awards every year, judging all its registered construction sites, which accounts for about 8,000 developments across the country. This year it presented 449 Quality Awards to site managers nationally and from those winners chose the recipients of its Seal of Excellence awards, before going on to select the very best site managers in each region for the Regional Award.

Cymon, from Northampton, said: “I was absolutely blown away to win not only a Seal of Excellence but a Regional Award as well. It was lovely that my partner Ness, who has been with me every step of the way, was there to enjoy my success on the night because her support has given me enormous strength.

“My philosophy is that I build houses as if I was building a home for myself and my family. I make sure that everything is right first time around and impress upon my team that only the best is good enough.”

It is the first year that Adam, 45, from Burnham-on-Crouch, has received a Pride in the Job Award, though he was part of the team at Sapphire Fields that was recognised with a Quality Award last year.

He said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the NHBC and the independent inspectors for the awards that I received. I feel truly honoured and grateful for the recognition that myself, my site team, and the sub-contractors who work at Sapphire Fields have been given.”

James, 39, from Rolleston on Dove, said: “It is great to know that all the hard work and dedication that I and my team have put in at Holbrook Park to make sure that we always put the customer first has been recognised. My ethos is that I want to build a home and a development that I would be happy and proud to live in myself and my team work effortlessly towards that target. Second best is just not good enough, so we strive to ensure we get it right first time.”
