Bellway on pointe with charity donation
Newmains dance company, On Pointe Dance Academy, is set to take part in the UDO World Street Dance Championships in Blackpool thanks to the generous support of Bellway Scotland West.
Thirty-one young people, aged from 8 to 18 from North Lanarkshire, are taking part in the competition which runs from Wednesday 14th to Sunday 18th August at the famous Winter Gardens. The event attracts thousands of dancers from around the world who compete in different categories in front of the world’s best street dance and hip-hop celebrity judges.
Bellway donated £1,800 to the Academy to enable the trip and in total parents have raised more than £3,000.
Megan Hilditch, founder, On Pointe Dance Academy said: “We would like to say a great big thanks to Marc Carty at Bellway Homes and also to all the local business in and around Newmains who have helped with our fundraising efforts.
“For most of our dancers this is their first season competing as we are building up the competition squads again following Covid.
“We have been blown away by the huge effort and response and I’m so happy that we are able to give our pupils at On Pointe Dance Academy the best experience.”

Established in 2013 On Pointe Dance Academy hosts weekly recreational and elite dance classes including ballet, jazz and tap, as well as contemporary, street and commercial styles. Classes are open to everyone regardless of age or ability.
