Bellway helps fund Willand Rovers Football Club’s new floodlights

Willand Rovers FC has upgraded the floodlights at its home ground thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder.

Bellway South West, which is building new homes at its Fox Mill Gardens development in the village, contributed £350 towards the cost of replacing the old lights with better quality and more energy efficient LED lamps.

The developer reached out to the club, which plays its home matches at Silver Street, earlier this year to discuss helping out with ongoing projects.

John Hooper, Commercial Manager at Willand Rovers FC, said: “On behalf of Willand Rovers Football Club I’d like to thank Bellway for their generous donation which helped us upgrade our floodlights to LED lights.

“The club recognises its responsibilities in promoting greener energy and that’s why we have installed new LED lights which are more cost-effective and efficient compared with our old floodlights.

“We’re looking forward to seeing all the advantages the new LED lights will bring, including high-quality light output in the stadium and a long lifespan.

“Willand Rovers Football club continues to go from strength to strength. The club was promoted to the Southern Football League after being crowned 2018/2019 champions of the Western Premier League, and now we play in Southern League Division One South.

“We have been based off Silver Street since 1953. Over the years there have been many improvements to our home ground and clubhouse where we are now a social hub for the village with regular social events throughout the week.

“I am a member of the Management Committee and one of my responsibilities within a small commercial team is to promote and enlist the support of local businesses. So I was delighted when Bellway reached out about offering their support. As they’re building new homes nearby and making a great impact in the village, we’re grateful for their donation towards the cost of funding our new light technology.”

Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “We place a real emphasis on giving back to the communities in which we build our homes, so we are pleased to be supporting Willand Rovers FC, which is close to our Fox Mill Gardens development.

“Willand Rovers FC is a long-established club with a proud history which plays an important role within the local community – one which the new residents at Fox Mill Gardens will become part of as they move into their new homes.

“We hope the club is benefitting from their new LED lights and they begin to see the advantages of using this energy efficient technology. We wish the club all the best for the upcoming 2023/2024 season.”

Bellway is building a range of three, four, and five-bedroom homes for sale at Fox Mill Gardens. A total of 125 homes will be built at the development, on land off Meadow Park.

The houses will be in styles from Bellway’s Artisan Collection, which was developed using feedback from customers and combines traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques.

The homes will comprise 81 properties for private sale and 44 affordable homes available for local people through rent or shared ownership.
