Bellway donates £500 towards Christmas gifts for patients at Basildon Hospital
A local housebuilder is helping to bring some festive joy to patients at Basildon Hospital this Christmas.
Bellway Thames Gateway, which is building homes at Maple Creek in nearby Fobbing, has donated £500 towards Christmas presents for those staying on a ward during the festive period.
Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity has set up festive gift wishlists featuring a range of items which people can buy to help give patients a more comfortable and enjoyable stay over the holiday season.
Bellway’s donation will be used to purchase a mix of presents for both younger and older patients, including toys, books, sweets and chocolate for children, make-up and toiletries for teenagers, and clothing, puzzles and toiletries for adults.
Clair Grayston, Community Fundraising Manager for Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity, said: “We are so grateful for the generosity of our friends at Bellway Thames Gateway. This donation will make a huge difference to those unfortunate enough to be spending this Christmas in hospital. On their behalf, thank you very much. We greatly appreciate your support.”
Samantha Norman, Sales Manager at Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “Christmas can be a very lonely time of year for those unfortunate enough to spend it in hospital. It’s wonderful that the Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity is running this appeal to help bring a bit of festive joy to patients, especially those who might not get to see family or friends during the festive season.
“It’s a pleasure to support the charity’s brilliant work to improve the experience for patients. Earlier this year, two of our employees volunteered their time at Basildon Hospital to help out with gardening and decorating at Polly’s Pad, a house where the families of poorly children can stay, and we look forward to working with the charity again in the future.”
Bellway is building 168 homes at Maple Creek, on land off High Road, in Fobbing.
