All 82 homes at Bellway’s Willow Rise development in Calverton have now been built.
Bellway East Midlands began construction work in 2021 on the site in Flatts Lane. Three years on, 66 private and 16 affordable homes have been provided, the green open space is well established and the recent opening of the play area marks one of the development’s final landmarks.
Paul Coleman, Managing Director for Bellway East Midlands, said: “Willow Rise has been a popular development and we are proud of the new community we have built here.
“The development has created a sensitive extension to the village while helping to meet the need for more high-quality, energy-efficient homes in Calverton.
“The community on site is extremely friendly and residents have been looking forward to the play area opening. Most homes are now occupied and the final residents will collect their keys during the summer.”
Tom Cunnington and Jodie Smith are about to move into a four-bedroom house at Willow Rise. With four sons between them and a wedding to plan for next year, they wanted a spacious ‘forever home’ which would be low maintenance.
Jodie said: “Moving into a new build means everything is all fresh and brand new and energy efficient.
“That’s why we chose new build. We thought we will have so much to save up for and this way it’s all done and all paid, and that’s one less thing to worry about.”
Jodie, who is moving from Annesley Woodhouse in Nottinghamshire, and Tom, who currently lives in Grantham in Lincolnshire, were impressed with the development and location.
Jodie added: “There is a lot of open space and there are some cafes in the village. It will be a nice little community.”
Bellway worked with Jigsaw Homes to provide 11 affordable rented homes and five shared ownership properties.
