Work begins on last six homes at award-winning development in Witchford

Construction work on the final six homes at The Vickers in Witchford is now underway.

The housebuilder is nearing completion of 110 of the 116 homes at the development off Manor Road, including 75 houses for private sale and 35 affordable properties for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

The site team is now starting work on the final six homes, which were originally designated as self-build properties. These will now be built by Bellway, as the two-year window for buyers to acquire these plots has now passed, to enable the completion of the overall site.

Rhiannon Jones, Head of Sales for Bellway Eastern Counties, said: “It is important that the last six plots at The Vickers are finished so that construction work can be concluded on site for the benefit of our customers and their neighbours.

“Our construction staff are now working hard to finish these plots so that we can offer them to prospective buyers and enable existing residents to enjoy the benefits of living within a completed new community.

“We hope to complete all construction on site by the end of the year.”

The final six homes will all be detached houses from Bellway’s Artisan Collection, a high-quality range of homes which have been developed from decades of customer feedback. They will include the three-bedroom Thespian and Carver designs and four-bedroom Scrivener and Weaver house types.

There are also a few four-bedroom houses remaining for sale within the wider site.

Rhiannon said: “The Vickers has become a thriving neighbourhood with a tangible sense of community since our first residents started to move into their new homes last year.

“This development is ideal for growing families with children thanks to the spacious homes and the large green open spaces we have here.

“Children also benefit from proximity to good schools for different age groups. The Rackham Church of England Primary School is about half a mile away while Witchford Village College is just opposite to our development.”

Site manager for The Vickers, Tom Taylor, received a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council earlier this year for the excellence of his work at the development.

Prospective buyers can visit the three-bedroom Carver and four-bedroom Bowyer showhomes on site to see the quality of the homes first hand.

A selection of three and four-bedroom detached houses are currently available for purchase, with prices starting from £333,500.
