Homebuilder supports young footballers in Middlesbrough
Bellway has funded new matchday kit for a junior football team in Middlesbrough.
Riverside Juniors FC Under-8s, who are based at Middlesbrough Sports Village, will don their new kit for their five-a-side fixtures in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance League every Sunday.
After emerging unbeaten from their Under-7s campaign last season, the team has won, lost, and drawn a match apiece so far this autumn.
This season’s sponsorship package has been funded by Bellway’s Durham division, which is building new homes across Teesside.
Team manager Carl Forbes said: “The kids really love the new kit and it comes at quite a special time for them because this is their second-ever season of competitive football.
“When we started looking for a sponsor to fund the kit this season, one of the dads of our players said that he was working for Bellway and they might be happy to support us.
“We made the order with a local sportswear manufacturer in Middlesbrough and Bellway picked up the invoice before we got the shirts.
“We are very grateful to Bellway for their support. As a local football club, we depend on sponsorship packages like this to fund most of our expenses so that we can give boys and girls in this area a chance to play football every week.
“All seven of the children in our team go to seven different schools and so the club also gives them the perfect opportunity to meet new kids and make new friends while playing the sport they love.”
Oliver Wray, Sales Manager for Bellway Durham, said: “We were happy to fund the new kit for the Under-8s team at Riverside Juniors FC as part of our support for sports clubs and voluntary organisations in the areas we are building new homes.
“Grassroots football clubs play an important part in community life, and Riverside Juniors is no exception, providing training and social opportunities for children aged from six to 16.
“We’d like to wish the youngsters the very best for a successful season on and off the pitch.”
