Homebuilder gifts Christmas tree to Bramford
Bellway has been putting down roots in the Suffolk village of Bramford – by planting a Christmas tree for villagers to enjoy.
The housebuilder, which is delivering new homes at Lockwood Place, off Loraine Way, donated a rooted Norway Spruce to Bramford Parish Council, and it was planted in memory of Queen Elizabeth II at the junction of Ship Lane and Fitzgerald Road, on Tuesday 29 November.
The tree, which was registered as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, will be the focal point for the parish council’s Christmas celebrations on Christmas Eve.
Cllr Caroline Wolton, from Bramford Parish Council, said: “I approached Bellway’s Construction Manager Simon Gronland to support our growing village by providing a rooted Christmas tree. He was only too happy to help and soon made things happen.
“It is a great way for Bellway to be more engaged in the community. Bramford Parish Council hopes to continue working closely with Bellway as the development continues.
“We have also buried a time capsule created by 1st Bramford Beaver Scouts with the tree. Its contents show what a remarkable year 2022 has been and the historical events it has witnessed – it will be a treasure to be found in the future.”
The Parish Council will be holding its Christmas celebrations around the tree on Saturday 24 December from 4.45pm onwards with carols, live music and festive refreshments.
