First residents welcomed into new homes in Sturminster Newton

The first residents have moved into their new homes at a Bellway development in Sturminster Newton which will generate almost £1.6 million of investment in the area.

Bellway Wessex is building 114 new homes at Corallian Heights on a 9.5-acre site off North Fields.

The development will consist of 85 private homes and 29 affordable properties, which will be made available to local people through rent or shared ownership.

Corallian Heights will feature large areas of public open space and a children’s equipped play area on the northern section of the site. All homes will have allocated parking and an electric vehicle charging point.

Emily Putnam, Sales Manager for Bellway Wessex, said: “It has been a pleasure to be able to hand over the keys to the first residents at Corallian Heights and to watch as a new neighbourhood begins to take shape. This community will grow and create its own identity as more and more buyers move in and people get to know their neighbours.

“This development, which is named after the Corallian rock formations found along the Dorset coastline, is a sustainable site which has been designed to provide a setting where residents can embrace the natural environment. Existing trees and hedgerows will be retained wherever possible and new trees and shrubs will be planted throughout the site.

“This family-friendly development will feature a village green which will provide a focal point and a designated outdoor space where the community can congregate for social events. There will be a footpath which links the site internally and externally and a woodland trail which leads to the children’s play area.”

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Bellway Wessex will be investing nearly £1.6 million in the local infrastructure and services. The contributions include more than £690,000 towards primary and secondary schools, more than £220,000 towards Honeymead Lane Education and Leisure Hub, and more than £150,000 for training and all-weather sports pitches.

Emily said: “We have opened a four-bedroom Silversmith showhome at Corallian Heights, which illustrates the spacious layouts and high-quality specification and finish that come as standard with a Bellway home. This property also showcases the energy-efficient central heating and modern insulation in our homes, which mean that buyers could save an average of £2,200 a year on their fuel bills when compared to an older property of a similar size.”*

There is currently a choice of two and three-bedroom new homes available to reserve at Corallian Heights, with prices starting at £259,995 and £274,995 respectively.
